Recently...

Ok, what have we done recently.....

today, i washed all the windows. that might not sound like a big deal, but we have a million windows.  half our doors are windows. i wouldn't call them spotless, but they look a little better. what prompted this cleaning was that we get a lot of condensation on the inside of our windows. i went to wipe it down and it came back black, and all our sills and seals are covered in mildew. so, as long as we keep up with wiping our wet windows, it shouldn't get this bad again. 

jer's 30th birthday was last thursday. as of this week, he is officially older than his father was when he died. yea!! for his gift, i took him to 3 movies. we've decided to help with money, we'll always go to the movies on tuesday b/c it's the cheap day. we went to see Startrek, Wolverine, and Angels and Demons. we enjoyed all of them. i do warn you, that angels and demons has some quite graphic death scenes. 

we have an intern at the church for about 2 months. he's from abilene christian university. he'll be staying at peoples home in rotation of two weeks. we have him the second and third week of june. it works out well b/c it's right after jeremy kemp's parents leave. they're coming in for Corin's 1st birthday. i know they're quite excited. 

other than putzing around, reading, jer working his tail off, there's not been much going on to tell about. Corin gave the whole house, along with all of Wed. night young adult group, the stomach bug. we weren't too pleased. it was not a fun time for anyone.

In Memory Of...

On Thursday (US time), Billie Grimes, who I worked with at the library when I was in high school, passed away. Her lungs finally gave out. She'd been in and out of the hospital for a while. I'm glad to know she is at peace now. She was 79.

On a sadder note, Jamie Gault, a close friend of mine since Kindergarten, passed away on Saturday (US time) of cancer. She also worked at the library with Billie. It's good Jamie held out until Billie passed. Billie wouldn't have handled that well. I know Jamie's husband, her high school sweetheart Michael, will be in so much pain right now, along with the rest of Jamie's family. Michael took a position stocking groceries at Wal-Mart at night so he could be with Jamie for her doctor's appointments. He took such good care of her.

Jamie and I were best friends from Kindergarten through 3rd grade, when she moved to Oklahoma. We were pen pals for a while after that. In early high school, they moved back to Arkansas and we were best friends again. We were married 1 week apart from each other. I am going to miss her dearly, but I know she is no longer in pain from her cancer.

Bananas

So, I'm shopping for non-chocolate kiwiana items that can be put into Rebecca and Matthew's birthday gift and found these at the grocery store, but the off brand. They're like circus peanuts, but bananas! I thought it was too cool, so I bought some for myself. Jeremy and Jeremy aren't too impressed, but that's ok, I'm happy. No Rebecca, I didn't put them in your birthday package b/c I didn't know if you were a fan of circus peanuts. If you are, let me know and I'll send some another time. Does anyone else think this is too cool?

reading

so, in my many readings recently, i came across what i want my eulogy to begin with. it's from a lori wick novel Every Storm. this might sound morbid to you, but you know. whatever.

"Something wonderful happened (enter time from date given, example 1 week ago today). It wasn't wonderful in every way for everyone concerned, but it was wonderful for Eliza Richards.

You see, Eliza knew where she was going. She hadn't planned on dying that day, but it was alright that she did. I don't mean that no one will hurt, miss her, or be sad, but when a heart has things settled for all eternity, it changes that way we look at her passing.

Eliza knew she was a sinner and needed a Savior. She also knew from Scripture that the only salvation is from God through His Son. So when Eliza was quite young, she humbled herself before God and believed on Him for that salvation.

And because God always keeps His promise we know that her belief in Him was settled for all time. I stand before you today with a heart that is both heavy and light--heavy for the loss of our dear friend and sister but light in knowing that her rightly placed faith her secured her a place in heaven forever."

long time no post

ok, several things have been happening:

1. swine flu is here. has been since the beginning...in our city even. a bunch of students from a high school in our city went to mexico during their holiday and came back with it. fun. the only people who seem to be having much problems right now is doctors/pharmacists and any flying into the country. everyone's  being questioned for symptoms when they get off the plane from the states or mexico. lots of people quarantined who don't have it, but better safe than sorry.

2. we went to tauranga this past thursday to meet with a bible college there. jer's going to do some design work for them. we climbed mt. maunganui while we were there and took lots of pictures. click here to see the ones jer has put up so far. he's fixing them and making panaramic shots. the first ones are shots from our balcony. on our way home on saturday we detoured to cathedral cove. this area was made famous by the movie prince caspian. he'll add those pics too when we gets there. it was raining the entire day. so we were wet when we got back to the car after 3 hours of walking in the rain. we didn't have extra pants, so we went home in our pjs.

3.i had a job interview last thursday. pray that pans out. they have 2 openings that i was eligible for.

4. i've been roasting a chicken each week lately. there are several things i like about this.

a. it gives me enough meat for a week

b. i only have to touch raw meet once a week

c. it's cheaper.

so yeah. that's all i can think of right now.
