Funny story

so, jer told me a funny story tonight. we're watching this new tv show, which of course started ages ago there in the states called "Modern Family". the kid is jumping on the trampoline with a box on his head. i turned to jeremy and said, " that looks like something you'd do." he agreed. :-) then he told me this story. when he was little, he used to get on the floor with a box over him with the flaps out flat on the floor. he used to go really fast until he ran into things. he says of course he always knew when he was coming up on something b/c the flaps indicated this. but the funny thing is he did this not because it was funny to him. he though it would look funny to anyone watching, and he thought that'd be funny. he doesn't even know if anyone ever saw him. so, to those of his family who read this, did you ever see him do this?

and rebecca, it was the family pics with myles that i "put in a safe place"...maybe some of audrey with myles? i can't remember what they all were, but i really wanted the family pic one.

Tonight

This is Scott and Rissa Marlar. You've read about them before. They're from Texas and live over here with 2 of their 3 kids. Well, sadly, they are moving back to the states on the 31st. So, lots of things are changing for them. We're buying a lot of their stuff for when we move house in a few months. Everyone is giving them dinners and such to say goodbye and spend quality time with them. Tonight was one such dinner. There is a lovely Japanese couple who own a take away shop, with a few tables too for eat in. Jeremy and I frequent there. The lady comes to church sometimes. The Marlar's met them by doing English lessons with them. They asked Jeremy and I to come to dinner tonight at the restaurant. Jeremy, however, is camping with a couple of other families up north this weekend, but I got to go to the dinner. It was soooo good. They cooked different Asian meals and kept feeding us. I am so stuffed, I had to push my waistline down on my jeans to keep from hurting too much. I felt I needed to try a little of everything they put out. There was so many different plates. They also have organic ice cream. We got half way through that when she remembered she made cheesecake and fruit for dessert, so we had that after the ice cream. They had a lot left over. You would have thought they cooked for more than 7 people. Of course, they didn't eat but 2 bites worth b/c they said they're trying to lose weight from a recent trip the south island. They're so sweet. We love eating at their place. I will attempt to spell their first names for you. I haven't a clue what their last name is. :-) Horoko (wife) and Ichiro (husband) This is how we say it...all the o's are long /Ho ro ko/ and /E cheer o/

Latest Project

These are pics of my last project. It was a crochet baby blanket for Miss Lydia Kern, daughter of our friends Bobby and Lisa. This little cutie was born the day after Thanksgiving. It was my first big crochet project. It's not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty good. Thanks Lisa for taking the pics for me.

Christmas Tradition

So, apparently i accidently started a Christmas tradition a few years ago. i manage to lose the family pictures rebecca (jer's sister) gives us for christmas. i always find them like 6 months later in a "safe" place. i then remember why i chose this place. usually they get put in a "safe" place b/c i'm not at my house. but this year i was at home when received them. any thoughts on where i put them? they're not on my desk. or with what we got for christmas from them. or on the shelf in the closet i put things. or my purse. or with my bills stuff. hmmm...i'd like to find them so i can put one in a frame.

Vaca

So, Jeremy downloaded the pics from Christmas and such onto his computer and deleted them from the camra, but has yet to put them on iphoto. so i can't post pics until he (or i) moves them to iphoto, so i can get to them.

I put in for 3 weeks vacation in september. the dates are Sept 12-Oct 4 (NZ time). so hopefully i can find a good deal on tickets sometime, and we'll be going back to the states during this period. i might even be able to break my promise to cousin Jeremy and go to his wedding. :-) he had to miss my wedding b/c i sent him on an errand back to the house to get the guest book for the recepetion. it was very sweet of him. i guess he can send me on some errand for during his wedding. it's only fair!

Christmas

So, here's the skinny. Jeremy's cousin, Casey, and his girlfriend Terah are here for 2 weeks. They went with Jeremy and 3 guys from our church tramping across the coromandel. They loved it. Jeremy came home with loads of blisters and swollen ankles and feet. Poor thing. We also have had them wondering the city and had dinner at the sky tower on wednesday. the previous wednesday, the day before their camping trip, we celebrated terah's birthday at muriwai having pizza. we watched the sunset, which was cool. plus, it was really really windy. it was the best black sand pizza ever! we're having a nice day today, Christmas! i made cinnamon rolls, pumpkin pie, and pavlova for today. we're grilling out for dinner tonight. it's a beautiful day. we're in shorts and hanging out watching past offices that casey and terah haven't seen. pictures will hopefully follow soon.
